All presentations, 2012 to 2017, were at a Hebrew Senior Life residence, Brookline. Presentations, which included discussion and Q&A time, were with residents (seniors and elderly residents ages 70's to 100+), care-givers, visiting family members and HSL staff. THREE ARTISTS - FELIX NUSSBAUM, TOBY KNOBEL FLUEK AND AKIVA SEGAN.
Art by Felix Nussbaum (born Osnabruck, Germany, 1904; murdered Auschwitz, 1944) self portraits while hiding in Brussels and several other pre-war artworks including boats and harbor views. Several paintings of her home life in a Polish village by Toby Knobel Fluek, from her book Memories of My Life in a Polish Village, 1930-1949. Akiva Segan's mosaic-drawing of Zlata Barshewsky of Bialystok.
(2017, March 17) MOSAICA - JUDAICA. Mosaic art to be shown includes Judaic mosaics of antiquity; mosaics of the the third to sixth centuries, C.E. (Common Era);and onto the modern era. Locations of mosaics include ancient Roman-era, and modern Israel, Iran, Tunisia, the United States and Canada. Five mosaic-drawing combo artworks by Segan are shown including a memorial portrayal of his mother's grandmother, who lived in the Jewish Home for the Aged in Bialystok, Poland.
