Death in the Warsaw ghetto and a page of Warsaw Ghetto death camp prisoner Frydrych Zelman's Judenrat-issued identity card

Elementary/primary school age teachers: This artwork is NOT shown in power-point presentations with classes of elementary/primary school children attending guest tolerance education with art presented by the artist.

Five drawing fragments (by Segan) from 1976 are each mounted on foamcore board and mounted on the old wood. The center area depicting the Judenrat issued ID card page of a prisoner named Frydrych Zelman was drawn in 1993.

Due to the strong depiction of a victim portrayed in the drawing, this artwork is not part of the Under the Wings (Holocaust and victims of European Fascism) art series.

The vertical panel (seen at right of the largest drawing piece of the artwork) depicting a page of the Judenrat issued labor - work card of a Warsaw Ghetto inmate, Frydrych Zelman, was drawn in 1993. That drawing area was done from a photocopy of one of the ID cards 4 pages,each provided to Segan by Marek Web, then chief archivist, YIVO Institute & Research Library, Manhattan, N.Y.

The 5 smaller and variously sized, shaped black ink drawings, described as "expressionistic" by the artist, were made in 1976 when I was a junior, majoring in art, at the School of Art, Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.

The realistic portrait head, in this work, seen in the largest of the drawing pages on the old weathered wood board, depicts a murdered Jewish victim of the Nazis. It was inspired by a photo in the book
